Fall 2017 Choral Placement Hearing Information

All students who intend to sing in a choral ensemble must sign up for a hearing time.  Choral Placement Hearings are required for all music majors with a vocal emphasis.

These hearings will occur during the first three days of class in Glidden 446 (see schedule below). A sign-up sheet will be posted outside Glidden 446 several days before hearings begin. Results will be posted by 8 pm of the first Thursday of the semester, following callbacks as necessary.

Students are placed by the faculty in the appropriate ensemble for their interest, voice, and ability. With the permission of all conducting faculty involved, students may participate in additional ensembles beyond the ensemble to which they are assigned.  Music majors with a vocal emphasis are only exempt from participation in a Major Ensemble (University Singers, Choral Union) if they have already fulfilled their Major Ensemble requirement for graduation, in which case they are strongly encouraged to continue singing in an ensemble.
